Every December, British music magazine NME compiles a list of what it considers the best albums of the year. It was started in 1974. The list is usually published in one of the issues sold before Christmas – in 2006 it was published in the issue for December the 9th. The companion list is NME single of the year.

Ever! is a compilation album brand from Circa Records (trading under the 'strategic marketing' brand name of EMI/Virgin Records). Ever! et., however on a number of indie music collections the genre aspect was replaced by a full list of artist names.

It's so hard to pick one best album by Pink Floyd, but I think this one's gotta be it. I kinda wanted to pick Animals though, but it almost seems unfair because there's not many songs on it, so it's JUST a few amazing songs, almost like Close to the Edge by Yes. DSotM is a much better experience when you play it as a whole, however. Probably the greatest album of all time. If not, then it's 2 or 3. This album is so universelly loved, and no one really knows why. Speak To Me - Sets up the album perfectly with the cash register sounds from money, the laugh from Brain Damage and, of course, the heartbeat. Breathe (In The Air) - A calm and hypnotic track great lkap steel guitar and fantastic lyrics written by Waters and sung by Gilmour. On The Run - A song that really captures the stress of travel with it's fast paced drumming and the sounds though-out the song.

The first country album to sell a million copies featured many previously released songs by Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Tompall Glaser and Jennings' wife Jessi Colter. But unifying the songs under the theme of outlaw country - a concept gaining national traction - made this album a runaway hit. A big part of that was due to the perfect cover art, depicting all the singers as dangerous, wanted outlaws from the Old West. Joni Mitchell's streak of classics continued with the 1976 folk-jazz album Hejira, which boasted her best artwork.
