MCA signed the band in 1996 following moderate sales of their 1995 debut Cheshire Cat and their growing popularity in Australia
Recorded at Big Fish Studios in Encinitas, California with producer Mark Trombino, the album was first released on June 17, 1997 in the United States on independent label Cargo Music. The album was released on CD, vinyl, and cassette in 1997 after a special promo CD was released.
MCA Records signed the band in 1998 to handle increased distribution for the album. It is a follow-up to their first album Cheshire Cat and this album was the last to feature Scott Raynor, who was replaced the following year with Travis Barker.
Since 2015, the lineup of the band has consisted of bass guitarist and vocalist Mark Hoppus, drummer Travis Barker, and guitarist and vocalist Matt Skiba
